Re: L28 resurrection tips?

Thanks Bernie.
The car is in Nelson, but I'm not sure when I'll get down there to sort anything out. Maybe my old man can freight me the carbs to tinker with :D
I would like to overhaul the engine at some point, but don't want to commit to too much right now.

Re: L28 resurrection tips?

Cool yea I was wondering if it was a good idea to pull the head. I can definitely strip and clean the carbys - is it worth getting a carb rebuild kit, or should I only worry if they are playing up?

I should start reading the ole' Tom Monroe book...

L28 resurrection tips?

Howdy all, I hope isolation is treating you well. My project 260z came with an L28 (P90/F54) carb motor, not installed, which supposedly ran before removal. I've had repairs done in the engine bay and would like to get the motor in and running if possible - just to get the car moving around by itsel...

GRS30-000883

The best birthday present a guy could buy himself, at least that's how it started... Maybe one day I'll own a 240z, until then I've picked up a '74 260z 2+2 :D It was actually by chance I saw the car listed on Facebook, not on TradeMe, so I decided to see how bad it was. Long story short it didn't l...

Are the factory power figures at the wheels? Shame to think how much is lost with age - granted these are ~15 year old cars now.
That's an awesome power gain with the NOS, what sort of mods were involved and are you running mostly stock internals?

The age old question... I'm about to do another service with Penrite 5w-40 full synthetic. My 2002 350Z has seen nearly 164000 kms (17k of my own) and uses minimal over a long trip or hill time attack  Service book probably says 5w-30, but that was 10-15 years ago. Just buy quality and keep ser...

Dude this build is so awesome 8) , I love the work and attention to detail you have with your cars. I've always had a soft spot for the Z32 but haven't yet dared to buy one, mainly put off my maintenance hassles as you described.

Nice car, and nice backdrop too. Part of me wants a wing like that, the other part of me can barely see when reversing as it is! Do you find it's an obstacle for view out the back?
Also what's this de-smoking business about?

Just ordered a RH exterior door handle for my 350. $170ish new from the dealer which I'm fairly happy about, given the one (used) available on TradeMe was $225 + shipping
Those dang plastics..

I find it to be almost completely random. Warm or cold, some mornings not others or just more notchy depending on the day. I have to carress my Z on the daily due to bad synchros but having driven the car for 6 months now I'm used to it, and I got over the notchy-ness a while ago. Though I'm yet to ...

Firstly I should say congratulations :) I can imagine the impact going from 2 wages to 1 would have on a family and like you say less splashing out on car parts must suck :(

That's probably one of the coolest kits I've ever seen, though who says your 240Z doesn't look beautiful already!!
